Weeks 10, 11, and 12: 8th Grade Tiny Houses
For the past three weeks, Miss Capobianco's 8th grade classes have been developing skills in architecture so to design a tiny house. They began by watching an episode of Tiny House Nation to gain some understanding as to what goes into designing and building tiny homes.
After learning how to create technical drawings, Miss C gave the 8th graders all the requirements for their tiny house project and they set off designing!

Students worked in their groups to come up with different ways to lay out the home. The 8th graders are also learning about ways to include sustainable design aspects to their homes. Part of their requirements for the home is to include three sustainable design elements such as solar panels or rain barrels.
Planning will continue a for a few weeks and after the New Year, the students will be building the model tiny homes they designed!
Stay tuned for the final products.
